Costume Design for Ivanov for the New American Ensemble at West End Theatre. It is Chekov’s rarely produced first full-length play.
It’s a heartening demonstration of how a director can in fact achieve freedom, fierceness, and freshness with text intact and actors in frock coats and long dresses. (Adeline Santello’s understated costumes nod to the late 19th century without getting fussy about it.)
